We like the neon glow, but aren't fans of the way Hatchimals treat their eggs. Getting them out of the shells is awkward and slow, and the "hatching" process is annoying.

Once a year, Hatchimals magically appear on store shelves, a new line of toys that perform magical, adorable tricks. These days, Hatchimals are simple to hatch, and kids absolutely love them.

Hatchimals Pixies Riders and Hatchimals Gliders are easy to hold and even easier to play. Giving you hours of magical fun!

Packed with imaginative play opportunities, the Coral Castle Playset is best suited for girls age 5 and up. The lights and sounds are fun, but maybe not as much for younger girls.

Hatchimals are a magical creature that hatch from incubation, with random insides! Pixies are modeled after butterfly wings, and look like their most magical when their wings are unfolded! These Hatchimals hatch into cute characters, and come with their own Hatchimals booklet, personalized to your boy or girl's name! They're cute, fun, and easy for little hands to hold!

Hatchimals are the 2016 toy craze, with retailers struggling to keep up with demand. Our team bought six Hatchimals CollEGGtibles eggs from Amazon, and exchanged them for three of the Spring Baskets, hoping that if we bought more, we'd get cute Hatchimals. We did, but Hatchimals in all the colors, not just the pastel ones you buy in the basket, are hard to come by. That said, Hatchimals Spring Basket is a good buy -- it is the most expensive item in our gift guide, but you'll get a lot for your money.

The Hatchimals CollEGGtible is exclusive to this playset, and it costs $15. At that price, it's a reasonable value, and we liked the idea of being able to hatch a rubbery furry creature.

From Words with Friends to Hatchimals CollEGGtibles, this year's hottest toys range from $10 to $250. While Hatchimals CollEGGtlers were only sold online and at select retailers (including Target, Walmart and Amazon), other toys were easy to find in stores. One caveat: Hatchimals are only available in certain countries.

These CollEGGtibles toys are adorable and fun! The limited edition glitter characters make them even more irresistible, but if you miss the glittery craze, you can probably find all the other regular Hatchimals characters at toy stores.
